    As we observe, listen and work with our customers, the employees of Special Occasions have noticed many strong friendships weaken during the stress of wedding preparations. We believe it is vital to address some of the important issues that tend to be uncomfortable to discuss between a bride and her maids. Let us be the instigator of topics to discuss to avoid confusion and strained friendships.

Brides
Please let your maids know of your expectations of them as your bridesmaids:
  • Are you paying for their dress, shoes and jewelry, or are they each responsible?
  • Who will pay for alterations?
  • Do you expect them to have their hair/nails done professionally for the wedding? If so, who will pay?
  • Do you expect them to host a bridal shower and/or bachelorette party?
  • Will they be invited and expected to attend each shower planned?
Important things to remember:

  • Be realistic with the bride. Ask questions to clarify her expectations of you and your duties as a bridesmaid.
  • Who will pay for alterations?
  • Discuss these issues early to avoid any conflict and uncertainties.
  • 50% deposit is required at the time of purchase.
  • Keep communication open.
  • Most of all…remember to HAVE FUN!! It’s an exciting time!

  • Dress

  • Hosting a shower (invitations, stamps, food, favors, room rental, game prize)
  • Shower gifts for 2-3 showers hosted by other individuals
  • Hosting a bachelorette party (invitations, stamps, deposit for location and rental fees, fun gift, hotel room- if staying overnight)
  • Manicure and/or Pedicure
  • Hair appointment
  • Hotel room for night before and of the wedding night
  • Wedding gift
